Avoid Injury - Ditch The Ear Scraper
At first I pushed aside any worries about the ringing in my ears. After all, how serious could it be? However, as time went by and I continued to ignore the symptom, it got louder and more persistent. It's now really beginning to grate on me.
After thinking the issue would "just go away", I finally gave in and went to the doctor to investigate my hearing difficulties. While sitting and waiting, I thought about it, and realized the delay was possibly a huge error. I really needed to sit down and speak with my doctor before the trouble became constant and very loud. Treatment probably could've been much simpler than I forced it to end up being.
The primary thing I learned was that I had a condition known as a punctured eardrum. This was unfortunately due to continually using an ear scraper to clean my ears. The reason I started using an ear scraper in the first place is that my earwax is dry and more easily extracted that way than with the traditional cotton ball or Q-tip. However, my doctor warned that an ear scraper is very dangerous to use because it makes it really easy to puncture and cause injury to the eardrum.
That is exactly the situation I am in now. I punched a hole in my eardrum by cleaning my ears by using a scraper and reaching too far inside the ear with it. I heard a very soft ringing sound in my ears, which was the first sign something was wrong, but I just ignored it. I still continued to use the ear scraper and caused more injury to my eardrums. The ringing in my ears is stronger, too, since there is more injury in my ears.
I now know how important it is to pay attention to what my body is telling me, because it might indicate that I am not in the best of health. Paying attention to my body will assist me in dealing with future health issues, and it might have helped me stop injuring my eardrums. If I had seen a doctor the moment my ears started ringing, then I could have stopped using the ear scraper and not had tinnitus.
